A blank page is not conducive to writing. Its blankness mocks you as if to say that nothing you write here will ever amount to nothing. This is probably why I am not a writer. I just don't feel I can fill up the space on a blank page with anything worthwhile. I prefer instead to read the works of others and be envious of the ease in which they fill the blankness.
I guess I should put down some stats here. Basically it boils down to this - a 29 year old lesbian vet nurse in a long-term relationship struggling with weight loss and lost in a sea of uncertainness about not only my future, but the future of the world as we know it. Gee, what a happy picture I paint. Things are really not that bleak, trust me. I love my life, love my girlfriend, love my job and love my two dogs. I just wish the world was a better place to live some days, then again, don't we all.

I am not sure how much international press this has gotten, but the Aussie PM John Howard is rushing legislation through Parliament that in effect bans gay marriage and will make overseas same-sex marriages void in Australia. According to Howard, he is not discriminating against gay people, but is simply upholding the tradition of marriage. What utter bullshit! To make matters worse, the Opposition party is *supporting* this move. Looks like the major politicians are too scared to take a stand for the gay population of Australia with a federal election coming up. Please, please make our voices of protest heard by signing the petition below, and let the Australian government know that the International community is against this act.
