Frivolous Purchases
It is my birthday in a week and a half's time and my parents are going to be in Sydney this week. My nanna has sent down with them $200 that I am ordered to spend on something for myself. My habit of pocketing birthday money and using it for everyday living is well known. Therefore my mother is taking me out tomorrow to ensure that I spend it on something "frivolous". I have no idea what to buy. There is nothing really I want. What on earth does one buy when they are instructed to buy something frivolous. I thought maybe some DVDs - I want to buy Stardust and perhaps Season 3 of House - but is that really something frivolous?

Any suggestions will be more than welcome. I have until 10am tomorrow morning to decide.

Television series DVD boxed sets are sufficiently frivolous to satisfy demanding friends and relatives, yet also important! They're perfect.

Soooo....what'd you get?

I was going to suggest shoes, but that is because I need some.
Then I was going to suggest a new really nice pillow, but I also need one of those too.
Then I thought you might buy half an upgrade to STATA10, the program I use to do nerdy statistics with, but really, OK only just me might think that was somewhat frivolous (and it is, since STATA9 is just fine, but darnit, STATA10 does graphics so much better...)

So, what did you get if you didn't get shoes, pillows or programs?

Actually I haven't gotten anything yet. We ran out of time to go shopping so I have been entrusted to get something by myself. Still no idea what to get.
