Bad Week

Bad Day
This week has totally sucked. Last weekend the kids got vaccinated and wormed and Rory threw up all day Sunday. Then she came down with vaccine induced canine cough, ran a fever of 40.1C on Wednesday and finished off the week refusing to eat her normal dog food. She is feeling much better now and we have brought a new brand of dog food this morning which she seems to enjoy *crossed fingers*.

However, with my lovely anxieties, I have been a total mess. I get extreme anxious when my fur kids get sick and this week has been a shocker. I pretty much stopped eating for a couple of days, haven't been able to sleep and my entire gastrointestinal system has gone to shit. I am a walking disaster area. I have got to get these anxieties under control. I can not fall apart every time one of my dogs vomits, let alone actually gets sick. Logically, I know my behaviour is ridiculous and I tell myself that, but I just can't stop my body from descending into a full blown panic attack.
Somehow this week, I have not only managed to go to work, but gotten a few kudos about how well I am doing. I have no idea how I pulled that off.

Today I am mowing the lawn, doing the edges and tidying the whole backyard up. I seemed to have chosen the hottest day this week to do this. I am blasting my mind with music and hoping to work myself into exhaustion so that I can have a decent sleep tonight and allow my body to calm down and reset.

Tyre Swing
It is just too darn hot and humid for life to continue. It is the end of March, time when it is usually getting colder, but no, today it is 35C (95F) and so humid that breathing makes you break out in a pool of sweat. There are promises of storms and a southerly change tonight, I just hope they are correct. I am not sure how much of this horrid weather I can handle.

It is the NSW State Election today and voting, as always, is compulsory. Alas, it seems like the guys who have been in government for the last 12 years and royally screwed up the state will get back into power. That is because no one wants to see the Liberals in power at all - we would rather the devil we know than one we don't. I am really hoping that it is a minority government with the independents holding the balance of power. Maybe that way, we might actually get things done.

I took the dogs into work with me this morning and now they are beautifully clean with soft shiny fur. If only they would stay that way all the time. Also found out that the growth on Rory's eye is a papilloma. It is nothing serious, but will need to be removed. Both dogs need a dental done, so when the growth starts to bother Rory, I will get it removed and get a dental done on them both, probably in the next month or so.

In these stones...
This morning I headed into the city for my appointment with my hand doctor. The good news is that my wrist is healing, the bad news is it is going to be a slow and long road to recovery. I have another appointment in a month's time so I have to keep wearing my brace until then. However, my lifting limit has been raised from 2kg to 5kg. I can pick up cats now.
After my doctor's appointment came my physio appointment. By the time both my doctor and my physio had played around with my wrist I was in lots of pain. There must have been a moment where I shot my physio a death stare cause she stopped what she was doing and said, "You just want me to stop touching your wrist, don't you?". Well, yes, but I didn't mean to glare at the poor girl.
My physio has given me strengthening exercises that I need to do 3 times a day. It is embarrassing how weak my wrist is, but she assures me that it will get stronger in time.

After all my medical stuff was over, I went hunting for an s-video cable that would allow us to connect the laptop to the TV so we can watch all our downloaded stuff on the TV instead of the computer. It took going to about six stores before I found what I was looking for and I had a nice long discussion with the man there about how to connect it all up. Well, it sounded easy in theory, but as you all know, it is never like that in practice. Two hours later, lots of Google searches and some swear words, I accomplished my goal. We can now watch Torchwood on the big screen! This also means that all the TV shows we have downloaded like Battlestar Galactica and Carnivale Season 2 can finally be watched as well. It is just damn annoying to watch them on the computer and you can't really have dinner whilst watching them, which is the only time we really have to watch any TV. I am feeling mighty proud of myself. I am walking around the house with a huge grin.
